Yesterday I did the weekly grocery shopping and purchased some granola. That evening Tyler was looking through the cupboards for something to munch on before hitting the sack. I knew he'd be happy when he spotted the granola because this guy loves granola. He will pour an entire bowl full and eat it as though it is as light as cheerios. I guess I'm just a lightweight because an entire bowl of granola is just too dense for my tummy to handle. My granola has to be sprinkled on things like yogurt, fruit, or oatmeal. That way I still get a nice crunch without the feeling of a brick in my stomach.
Anyways, Tyler found the granola and said, "Why'd you buy granola with weird nuts in it?"
I gave him a quizzical look and asked, "Since when are pecans weird?"
"I like normal nuts, pecans aren't noooorrrmmmaaallll." He said this while using big hand gestures.
I gave him a blank stare..."So, what are normal nuts?"
He started pouring the granola into a bowl, "Peanuts."
I turned around so he didn't see me roll my eyes, he hates it when people roll their eyes. "Well, I know a lot of people that love to eat pecan pie at Thanksgiving every year. I think they are pretty normal."
Tyler sat down and started eating his bowl full of granola. After a few bites he turned to me and said, "Hey this granola is actually pretty good, even if there are weird nuts in it."
I patted his head and said, "I'm glad you like it, weird nuts and all."
How do you eat your granola and are there any nuts that you think are weird?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I used to be scared of some nuts, but now that I've tried most of them I'm pretty okay with any of them in the right context. Pecans and other sweet nuts are great for a sweet snack without all the sugar of pastries and candy.
I eat my granola in a bar.
Thanks for your input Tiffany, I grew up eating all kinds of nuts so I wasn't sure if I was the nut eating weirdo. I will agree that granola is good in the bar form!
I think the only weird nut I've encountered is the unexpected one. My Mom's friend once made some kind of fluffy dessert with fruit and I took a bite and found it had nuts in it! Big hard ones! It just tasted so weird and gross, but then again I was a kid. I also don't really understand pine nuts and where they come from!? So I stay away. I don't know why nuts are sort of a polarizing issue -- everyone has their quirks about them. Food for thought, haha.
And thanks to you... all I want is some granola. :)
